Five Major Cities
The five major cities of the Megalopolis include:
New-York
Philadelphia
Washington
Boston
Baltimore.
Each city is unique and distinctive as they are locating along a nearly straight line from northeast to southwest. Just as the Megalopolis region has five major cities, New York City itself includes five boroughs that make up the city. They include: Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, and Brooklyn.

Bronx:
Bronx is the northernmost city of the five boroughs just as Boston is the northernmost of the Megalopolis area. It is located north of Manhattan and Queens, is the fourth largest and fourth most populated of the boroughs. The Hudson River separates the Bronx from the island of Manhattan to the southwest. The location was named after a man named Jonas Bronck who created the settlement as part of the New Netherland colony. Throughout the centuries, the Bronx borough received many different cultural immigrants which has made the region a wellspring of both Latin music and hip hop. The Bronx is also the greenest of New York City's boroughs. Some activities that are popular and fun in the Bronx location are visiting animals at the Bronx Zoo, wandering through the 50-acre forest at the New York Botanical Garden, or trying some gourmet foods on a street called Arthur Avenue. The Bronx also has a small location called Bronx's Little Italy which offers gourmet italian foods. Van Cortlandt Park features two square miles of boating, horseback riding, tennis, and the oldest public golf course in the United States.
Queens:
Queens is the easternmost of the five boroughs and the largest in area. It sits on the west side of geographic Long Island and is the most ethnically diverse urban area in the world. It has a humid subtropical climate with some shielding from the Appalachian mountains. The region receives plenty of rainfall throughout the year and winters are relatively mild compared to the other areas of the state of New York. Just like Boston of the Megalopolis region, Queens has the most diversified economy with evenly spread jobs such as manufacturing, retail, trade, construction, transportation, film, etc. Boston is a high-technology center because its large concentration of private and public universities offer a highly skilled workforce.
Brooklyn:
Just as New York is the most populous of the Megalopolis area, Brooklyn is most populated of the five boroughs. The famous Brooklyn Bridge is located in this borough and is a strength to the city of New York as it allowed transportation to Manhattan no longer by water and ties to the city as a whole were enhanced. Its neighborhoods are consistently changing as populations come and go; the borough is home to a large American American community in comparison to Washington D.C which also has a large African-American population. The region itself has contributed much to various aspects of American culture such as cinema, theatre, and literature. The "Brooklyn accent," is often what is portrayed as the "typical New York" in many American films and TV. Brooklyn is home to some of the world renowned places such as Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn Philharmonic, and the Brooklyn Museum. It is also a huge tourist attraction that offers many places to visit such as the Botanic Garden, Coney Island, and Prospect Park.
Manhattan
Manhattan is bounded by the East, Hudson, and Harlem Rivers. It has been recognized as the economic and cultural center of the United States. It is the most densely populated county in the United States yet has smallest land area of the five boroughs. Along with the rest of the boroughs, it experiences a humid subtropical climate. It is the host of many important economic and political locations such as the United Nations headquarters, Wall Street (the financial capital of the world), the New York Stock Exchange, and NASDAQ. Manhattan's real estate market is among the most expensive in the entire world. The attack on September 11, 2001 against the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center was also located in this borough which impacted thousands of people. The Statue of Liberty also holds its place in Manhattan.

Staten Island
Staten Island is located in the southwest region of New York City. It is the least populated borough much like Baltimore is of the Megalopolis region, yet it is the third-largest in area. It is the only borough that is not connected to the New York City subway system and the only borough that does not share a land border with another borough. However, the Staten Island Ferry exists as a transportation between itself and Manhattan. Staten Island used to identify as the largest landfill in the world. It 2001, they closed as a landfill and later opened after the September, 11 attack to receive the debris from the smoke. It is currently being made into New York City's second largest public park. Staten Island is the only borough with a non-Hispanic White population as majority. Some of the attractions located in Staten Island are the Alice Austen House, the Historic Richmond Town, St. George Theatre, Staten Island Zoo, and the Conference House Park.
