Atlantic Periphery
Just as the Atlantic Periphery is known for their high activity in fishing, New York state has some of the finest fishing venues in the country. People can fish for a variety of different fish such as warm-water, cold-water, and salt-water fish species. Some areas for fishing include the Lake Erie, Adirondack lake, Lake Ontario, and the Hudson River. The state itself has 7,500 lakes and ponds, 70,000 miles of rivers and streams, and hundreds of miles of coastline. There are always fishing opportunities nearby when in New York.

It is easy to forget that New York city is surrounded by water because of the 29,000 acres of land there is to enjoy. The city itself offers 500 miles of lakes, rivers, and shorelines which includes opportunity to participate in fun activities in the water. Each borough of New York City has its own fishing spots that are unique to their location. The Bronx borough's fishing location include the Indian Lake and Van Cortlandt Lake. The lakes in Brooklyn that are great for fishing are the Prospect Park Lake and the Transmitter Park. Manhattan is known for the fishing locations of Central Park Lake, Central Park Pond, and Harlem Meer. The Baisley Pond, Kissena Lake, Meadow Lake, and Oakland Lake are some lakes that are great places of fishing in Queens, New York. Lastly, the borough of Staten Island has its own fishing locations called the Clove Lake and Wolfe's Pond.
